“Always We Begin Again,” by Leeana Tankersley

“When we refuse to validate our struggles, we we are not only hurting ourselves, we are also drowning in a void.” Leeana Tankersley, “Always We Begin Again.”

This 100 day devotional book is a cure to an a soul aching for truth in a season of suffering or just the everyday grind of life. Nothing soothes a worn out soul like the balm of God’s Truth. Rich with well-spoken words from Tankersley, these brief passages of encouragement are just enough to add encouragement to anyone’s daily life.

Life is messy, and this devotional is different from others in it’s honest approach to just how difficult it can be to hold onto God’s truth when life gets uber messy and difficult. “Amends is not just words;” Tankersley writes, “it’s engaging in restorative actions whenever possible.” A daily devotion like this one does just that.

This daily dose of wisdom and encouragement is easy and captivating to read. Tankersley does  a great job at weaving the Truth of Scripture into daily circumstances. She doesn’t water down Biblical truth, which I appreciated, but rather challenges us to dig a little deeper. At the end of each devotion, there is a prompt for the reader to complete, in order to further cement the truth God is speaking into them.

I highly recommend this book, especially for those feeling overwhelmed by some unfair circumstances, or overcome by the trail of their own mistakes. Each passage will help readers find new hope. “The ability to hope,” writes Tankersley, “comes from the idea that what we believe is the end may only be the beginning.”
