“100 Words of Affirmation Your Wife Needs to Hear,” by Matt Jacobson

“100 Words of Affirmation Your Wife Needs to Hear,” by Matt Jacobson, and “100 Words of Affirmation Your Husband Needs to Hear,” by Lisa Jacobson,  are great resources for married couples. I gave this book to my husband to read alongside me as I read Lisa’s book. Before writing this review, I read through Matt’s affirmations and have to say they were spot on. If I’m being honest, I had my doubts as I read through the affirmations my husband needed to hear. Some felt awkward to imagine saying! But when I read through the affirmations I as a wife need to hear, I started to see the words my husband needs to hear in a different light. I wondered if some of the things he was recommended to say to me felt awkward to think about saying! These books opened my eyes to understand why, even though I might not understand why he needs to hear some of these things, they are all worthy and important words to honor and sometimes discuss honestly.

My prayer for couples that read these books is honest conversation. About where they are at currently in their marriage, which affirmations they are good at saying and which are a challenge, and how they can grow closer to God and each other through each page of these books. Marriage is a team effort. Though we come from different perspectives, the goal is to meet in the middle in love for God first, and then each other.

I recommend this book to husbands seeking to understand their wives better. As a wife, myself, I agree that these affirmations are spot on. They are absolutely things I wish I heard from my husband more often. Take this seasoned and godly advice from Matt, and don’t waste …or miss …any more words.

(I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.)
