Meet Meg!

I started this blog as a living scrapbook …  a way to go back and re-live all of the funny and overwhelmingly blessed day-to-day moments I experienced with my kids. God has never failed to illuminate the long and winding path of motherhood with tender moments and gut-breaking laughter.  Along the journey, I have repeatedly witnessed the unmistakable hand of God on my life. 

I LOVE people. High energy and adventurous, my infamous motto being “I can’t wait to be friends with everyone,” I oddly have a passion and calling to write …which most days has me sitting at home in my slippers reading aloud to myself  while my kids are at school. Thankfully, my love of fresh air and photography send me on a daily walk down the pier with my dog in the small lake town I live in.

Raised Catholic in a suburb of “The Land,”Cleveland, my parents  have now been married almost 40 years. They, my younger sister and brother, and I, called ourselves “Five Alive.” My family is awesome. I don’t remember a day in my life where I didn’t believe in Jesus. I graduated from Ashland University, where I majored in Marketing and PR, ran Cross Country and Track, and officially surrendered my life to Christ. But every highlight reel has it’s blips of catastrophe, and mine all but took me out.

After the loss of a friend, and downward spiral of bad choices that included the end of a marriage, I was blown away by God’s redeeming hand on my life. Once again, re-married and pregnant with my first sweet baby girl, I re-committed my life to Christ. Over a decade later, I am a living and breathing testimony of Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” 

His grace levels me. His love brings me to my knees. When I’m worshipping God with my little girls in our church’s children’s ministry, laughing with our newly-formed small group, and studying God’s Word with my amazing Monday morning Bible Study friends, I know I am a product of prayer and a walking miracle.  I cannot help but turn around and try to encourage all who think they’ve made too many mistakes to be used by God. Or, face impossible situations that seem to smother out all hope. 

What began as an occasional post to retain a quip that my exhausted new-mom brain could not retain, has now grown into a passion for encouraging others in Christ. Along the way, I’ve experienced the highs of being a high school cross country coach and lows of facing an incurable disease. Jesus has high-fives me in triumph, and clutched my slumping shoulder in anguish. This blog is the story of my life …within the love of Christ.
