5 Ways to Know You Are Right Where God Wants You

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” Isaiah 30:21 NIV

My husband hopes to draft his little girls into appreciating football. So each week during our family fantasy football draft, he helps the girls and I tweak our teams, making laps around the table to coach our picks. If only life came with a coach like that. Yet, we do! Believers have an even better coach to guide us, in fact.

This is what Isaiah was talking about in the above verse. He reminded Israel the importance of following the one true God, not other gods.

We, too, can tap into the power of the living Word of God and allow it to convict, direct, and encourage our hearts. When we follow God, no matter where we turn or how many times we circle, He steadily guides us to the path He has prepared for us. May we have a fresh assurance today that we are right where God wants us to be.

A Prayer for those Seeking God’s Calling on Their Lives

“Know His incomparably great power for us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:19)

We are pulled in different directions, and hardly any of the popular notions we are tempted to entertain on a daily basis would have us following Jesus as God intends. But prayer is powerful. Through our wavering, the Holy Spirit translates, and God hears. In Christ, we have peace in knowing that when we lift our confusion into His hands, He will faithfully guide us and answer us.

Father, praise You for guiding us faithfully through this life. Fish live under the water, and though the wind chases the surface into a fury, schools of them swim peacefully under the surface. As the fish peacefully wait out the waves swimming under the water, we seek shelter under Your arms of pure love. Praise Jesus, who came to earth as a living reflection of Your love, to take us in His arms and show us how to weather the stormy seas of life.

Our great God, You are our rock. When our ship is tossed, we can throw anchor to the bottom and know that You will steady us. You will keep us from running aground as the storm passes through our lives without regard for the destruction left in the wake.

A Prayer for Those Caught in the Gossip Trap

The fibers in my stomach began to fly off with my lunch as mud slung out of my smartphone speaker. For seven years, I had tried to find the good and lend an understanding nod, until God revealed my agreeability made me guilty of conspiracy. Afraid to come across judgmental, I refused to weigh in directly.

Confidence at a high volume lofted a convincing argument on dishonesty’s behalf, and a strangling hold on the hand of truth that threatened to lurch out of my stomach. I always found something positive to say about the person in vocal peril, but ran the risk of being directly associated with the entirety of the conversation.

“Stay away from ungodly babbling because it will only lead deeper into a godless lifestyle.”1 Timothy 2:16 (VOICE)

Through the Holy Spirit abides in every Christian heart, and the uneasinesses I felt was a warning for me to evacuate that phone call. God is the protector our hearts, alerting us to falsities that attempt to crack through the surface.
