“Life’s greatest fight is within the mind.” Kelly Balarie
This book carries a message that will leave it’s readers feeling encouraged, happier, and spiritually healthier than they were before scanning it’s pages. “Battle Ready”is a soul-shaking equipping to “take captive every thought,” (2 Cor. 10:5) even when the battle has been long, mind-bending, and slightly numbing.
Emerging from seasons of stark change can leave us feeling tossed around by our feelings. This book reminds us that feelings are fickle, leaving us with a better understanding of the human mind and the power of our thoughts. Moreover, Balarie aligns every concept to Scripture, with multiple plans of offense and defense to re-direct rogue thoughts safely into the hands of the One who can be trusted to speak uplifting and encouraging Truth, convicting us to make positive changes, accumulate godly wisdom, and embrace the beautiful children of God that we were ALL made to be.
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix you attention o fGod. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to it’s level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:1-2 MSG
Society will pit us against each other …and ourselves. This message shows us how to battle for the brightness beyond our scope of plain sight …even past our preliminary glance in the mirror. More than just a pep-talk, Balarie gives her readers multiple tools to change destructive thought habits. Beyond the obtuse pain that sometimes blocks our vision in the form of bitterness, doubt, worry, fear, and sheer exhaustion, God’s purpose for our lives remains unchanged.
The world is full of light, if we choose to see it. There is good in everyone …battle to find it. We are all made in the image of our good God (Genesis 1:27). But just seeing it isn’t enough. We have to be well-equipped to let it beam out of us, wherever we’re at. A spark in the dark starts a fire, and I highly recommend reading “Battle Ready,” as a way to see and spread more kindness and love in the world, and to ourselves.
