A Prayer for Teachers and Educators during the COVID Crisis

(Originally posted April 13, 2020)

Teachers, educators, counselors, and coaches have a huge impact in the lives of the students they work with. With most schools closed for the remainder of the school year, many educators have been getting used to the new normal of online learning. This new learning experience has certainly made many grateful for their teachers. Even kids who tend to complain about the mundane daily routine of school are missing each other and anxiously awaiting being reunited with their students.

Parents and students with zero homeschooling experience are also being thrust into this new upheaval of daily schedules and isolated work from home and schooling environments. Many parents are essential workers, unable to be at home with their children to guide them through lessons and projects. Though many are able to connect through technology and virtual classrooms, there will be an inevitable need to reach out to those who remain disconnected. Not every student has access to a computer, and not every school system is able to provide one for every student.

10 Prayers to Pray Together as a Family During the Pandemic

(ORIGINALLY POSTED MARCH 2020)

Praying the promises of God reminds us of the hope we have in Jesus Christ. During pandemic times, keeping our hearts and minds focused on the truth of God’s word eases our anxiety and fear. Our God is purposeful, setting us in our families, communities, even in our generations. We are not meant to do life alone. Private prayer is important, but so too is prayer together as a family. God promises, where two or more are gathered, He is with us. When we seek Him with all of our hearts, we will find Him. May the following prayers remind us of God’s love for us, and comfort us in times of distress.

A Prayer for Healthcare Workers Fighting COVID-19

(Originally posted on March 23, 2020)

The reality of the worldwide pandemic, COVID-19, is starting to hit home for many individuals in the Unites States, and across the world. It’s beginning to have a spider-webbed affect on our lives as we witness our family and friends who work daily in the medical field, military, and first responders face the front lines of those affected, and infected, with COVID-19. Our faith in the providence of our purposeful God is being put to the test in this unprecedented time.

Prayer requests for the protection and safety of healthcare workers, first responders, and even grocery store workers who are connected to our daily lives are becoming more commonplace. Our prayerful response is important. The healthcare workers and first responders aren’t faceless, they are our neighbors, family, friends, parents, relatives, sons and daughters. Let’s not just say we’ll pray for them, but find a picture of their face, pray for their family and friends, and make it as personal as it truly is. We are all placed in each others lives for a reason. Reach out for prayer, send pictures of the people out the on the front line of this pandemic. Let’s look at them and urgently pray to our sovereign God on their behalf.

A Prayer of Reassurance for the Christian Who Doubts

Doubt is an inevitable part of our humanity. It can steal our victories before we’ve had time to enjoy them, and rob our sense of self-worth. Doubt can attack us even on our best days, and pummel us into a dark corner on the bad ones. But Christ wants us to walk confidently through life, not be paralyzed by doubt.

He is our strength when we are weak.

He is our rock when we feel the avalanche of worry and anxiety in our lives.

The world is pushing in on us from all directions, with every kind of threat. But our great God is more powerful than your doubt! When we submit our doubts to Him, we remind ourselves who he is and who we are in him. And through the power of the Holy Spirit, we become unstoppable in accomplishing God’s will for our lives. The journey will not be easy, or pain-free… but it is possible to kick doubt out.
