The Reclining Couch (#jammed daily devo, day 86)

March #jammed: Grace Revealed.

Day 86: Just move it.

“Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Philippians 4:13

The shower ran again at 3am, and when I crept down to tend to my coffee at 5 …the
basement doopost-image-86r was cracked. TV and a string of Christmas lights on, he’d slept sitting up again.

“How’s you’re neck this morning?” I asked a few hours later after returning from walking the dog.

“Same.” He was defeated, at this point. No sleep for a week will do that. No one embraces the simple joy of sleeping laying down until it’s taken away temporarily.

“Don’t just get into the boat with nobody at the helm and merely hope that the waves of life take you somewhere good.” Joyce Meyer, Living Beyond Your Feelings

After my husbands car crept out of the driveway, I creeped downstairs to start moving his ‘sleeping arrangement’ upstairs. I’m known for this …moving things …rearranging entire rooms and house floors by the time he pulls back in that driveway at the end of his workday.

But this time, I was in over my head. A double reclining couch up a stair case. I was going have to call for help. And they came, as they always do, these awesome friends that we have been blessed with.

“You did it, didn’t you?” he laughed when he got home that day.

I couldn’t have snapped back when he bit my head off that morning. And there’s a million reasons why I should not have attempted to drag that couch upstairs. But it was the right thing to do. A compassionate heart that goes out of the way for someone who can’t see their need is walking Jesus-style …and I’m a Jesus girl. I’ll find a way to get it done, because I know if He’s behind me, no sour mood or impossible situation can stop an explosion of kindness.

jammed-tweet-blueFather, Praise You for kindness explosions. Thank You for inspiring us go out of the way to help others in compassion. Created in Your image, we inherit it from our Father. We confess all the times we let a busy day swallow an opportunity to make someone else’s, and thank You for friends that always help out in a time of need. Bless my poor husbands back to heal. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
